Cocktail Party Venues

Being called to organize, plan and host a cocktail celebration party can be a fun-filled yet interestingly stressful experience. One thing you will definitely need to do is choose between cocktail party venues. The location of your party is just as important as the guest list and the menu. Speaking of the guest list, it is important to have a general idea of how many guests you are expecting before you start searching for a location. Even though your initial guest list will be an estimated number it can help you find a venue. Choose a venue that can accommodate your maximum expected number of guests.

While it's likely that not everyone you invite will show up, it's better to have more than enough room, food and drinks than not enough. On the subject of food and drinks you should also have a basic idea of what you want to serve at your party. Cocktail parties aren't just about cocktails. You should also plan to serve food and non-alcoholic beverages as well. Even if you don't have a formal sit down dinner you can serve appetizers and hors d'oeuvres. Ideas for your menu might include cheese balls, crab puffs, crudities, miniature burgers, mixed nuts, fruit and of course dessert items. These are just ideas to consider when planning your cocktail party menu.

Restaurants and banquet halls are great locations for cocktail parties because they can accommodate large groups and serve whatever you need. You may also want to consider the ballroom of a hotel. For something out of the ordinary you could host your cocktail party on a boat. Of course this is not going to work for everyone but if you are lucky enough to be near the water and have party boat rentals available this is something to consider. There is nothing more elegant than cruising on the water at sunset as you sip champagne.

When searching for cocktail party venues start calling around at least three to six months in advance. Popular locations may be booked months in advance so plenty of notice will be required. After you've secured the location for your cocktail party you can send out the invitations. Always request an RSVP by a certain date so you will know how much food to order. You may also want to specify the dress code on the invitation. Although many cocktail parties are black tie, others are more casual when it comes to apparel.
